Champion the Importance of Attendance
There are If a student is absent two or more days a month they are much more likely to fall behind on their school work and will have difficulty catching up.
There are many reasons why students don’t go to school – they may need to watch younger siblings while their parents work, they might need to work to help with family finances, or they may not understand or realize the importance of going to school.
United Way wants to partner with local businesses to become monthly Attendance Champions.
Your business would help promote the importance of attendance throughout the month using social media, blog posts, giveaways, displaying banners in your lobbies, speaking to your employees and anything else you imagine will inspire. Hearing the message from sources outside of school emphasizes the value of attendance and its relationship to success in school. We want students and adults alike to know that the whole community’s expectation is that students to go to school every day, learn and achieve.
Being an Attendance Champion is a low to no cost campaign that has a major positive impact on our community.
