United Way of Anchorage is proud to host the 2021 Walk 4 Warmth, a week-long fundraiser for AK Can Do, Alaska’s statewide COVID-19 response fund. The fund provides direct support to families and individuals struggling to cover basics such as paying rent and utilities. Last year over 7,000 of our neighbors were helped with rent, mortgage, and utility payments, but with the pandemic persisting on and unemployment up 27% from last year, the need is still great, and we hope to ensure all our neighbors continue to stay warm and housed this winter. You can make an impact and double it when you give and participate as all funds donated during the Walk 4 Warmth event will be matched 1:1.
The Walk 4 Warmth Kickoff Celebration will be streamed through Facebook Premiere at noon on Friday, Feb. 5th, and conclude with a Thank You Celebration at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14th.
Document your participation during the week with the hashtags #Walk4Warmth and #LiveUnitedANC. Individuals and team participants will be highlighted at the closing event. Use the suggested downtown walking route (coming soon) or take advantage of Anchorage’s numerous trails. Walk solo or gather a group – family, friends, and co-workers – get outside and move!
Don’t feel like walking? No problem! You can choose any of your favorite activities to participate. Skate, ski, run, dance, cycle, or swim—it’s your choice. The point is to get moving to show support for your community.
All donations made to Walk 4 Warmth are matched 1:1.
*The first 150 participants to donate $40 or more will receive a goodie bag courtesy of ENSTAR and our generous sponsors.
